873,972. Continuous casting-machines. VON MOOS'SCHEN EISENWERKE A.G. DER. Aug. 14, 1957 [Sept. 21, 1956], No. 25709/57. Class 83 (1). A continuous-casting machine comprises a water-cooled mould 2 and adjacent support guide and take-off rollers 11, 12, 13 for a cast strip, the mould and rollers being so shaped and disposed that a cross-sectional element of the cast metal travels along a circular path into a straightening device 14, 15, 16. The molten metal is fed by a crane-operated ladle to a hopper 1. The cast strip is cooled by waterjets 8, and passes along support rollers 18 upwardly or downwardly to a cutting-off machine. The mould is initially closed by a starting strip as described in Specification 873,973 or by a strip composed of sections 20<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, which may be joined together in situ. The mould 2 may be oscillated during casting by a lever 27, Fig. 5, or a lever 31, Fig. 6, the levers being operated mechanically, electrically or by fluidpressure. |
