An assembly for a fluid transfer system includes: a connector (106) having a proximal end (112) and an opposite distal end (114) connected by an inner passage (116); and a container (110) having an internal fluid reservoir (124). The connector is coupled to the internal fluid reservoir of the container to form a series fluid connection between the inner passage and the internal fluid reservoir, and the connector and the container are made of a biodegradable material.
