860,033. Foldable boxes. THIOLAT, H. April 28, 1959 [Dec. 29, 1958], No. 14478/59. Class 18. A foldable box comprises a base A and side flaps B, B 1 , C, C 1 , joined by gusset-like extensions L, L 1 , M, M 1 with notches cut-away at N, N 1 , O, O, respectively and elements D, D, hinged to flaps B, B 1 respectively have cut-out tongues P, P 1 which engage the flaps C, C 1 when the box is erected, For transportation the blank is folded as shown in Fig. 2. To erect the box the flaps C, C, which turn about folding lines 2 are raised by pressing the direction of arrows R causing the flaps B, B 1 to be raised about the lines I and extensions L, M and L 1 , M 1 respectively to fold against each other about the lines 8 until the tongues P, P 1 engage the outside of the flaps C, C 1 or elements F, F 1 . To close the box the elements F, F, are folded inwardly and locked by engagement of lugs G, G 1 with slits H, H 1 respectively. The elements D, D 1 are folded inwardly and a head I on a tab E is introduced into an aperture K, formed in the element D, to provide a handle. In a modification the tubs E, E 1 are replaced by securing means similar to lugs G, G 1 and slits H, H 1 . Alternatively the flaps C, C 1 may be deprived of any closure means. To facilitate the hooking effect of the tongues P, P 1 the height of the side flaps B, B, may be slightly less than that of the flaps C, C 1 . |
