<p>The Provisional Specification describes adhesives containing alkali metal borates. Metaborates may be used in combination with dextrin; borax with dextrin, casein or gelatine; pentaborates with any of these or with starch. The adhesive may contain up to 30% by weight of B2O3 if it is to be applied at room temperature, or 50% if it is to be applied hot. When part of the borate is present as crystals, these should be kept small. These adhesives may be used to stick paper to paper or board (see Group VIII).</p> |
