The device has a housing including an opening (12) for vapors from an extractor hood, an outlet opening (14) for recirculation air, an outlet opening (16) for exhaust air and a guide baffle (50) within the housing. The baffle is movable between a position in which the baffle closes the latter outlet opening and another position in which the baffle closes the former outlet opening. The outlet openings are arranged perpendicular to the opening. The baffle guides the vapors into the former outlet opening in the former position and into the latter outlet opening in the latter position.
