<p>The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device exhibiting an excellent gray scale inversion characteristic in a state where a color close to black is displayed. The present invention is a liquid crystal display device including a first polarizer, a second polarizer disposed to face the first polarizer, a liquid crystal display panel provided between the first polarizer and the second polarizer, and a first phase plate and a second phase plate provided between the first or second polarizer and the liquid crystal display panel. In the liquid crystal display device, the liquid crystal display panel has a pair of substrates disposed to face each other and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the pair of substrates, the liquid crystal layer includes a homogeneously aligned liquid crystal molecule, the first phase plate includes a liquid crystal film, the liquid crystal film is formed by being set in a state where a nematic liquid crystal is hybrid-aligned, and a specific phase difference as a phase difference in a perpendicular direction of a member which is present between the first and second polarizers, excluding the liquid crystal layer and the first phase plate, is 120 nm or more.</p> |
