发明名称 STAIR-AVOIDING DEVICE
摘要 In urban areas one-story buildings are the favored form of residential buildings. With the aging of population, climbing of the stairs or descending on them becomes an increasingly important problem. Statistical data indicate that in the over sixty age group falling, especially falling in stairs, represents a large proportion of deaths and serious injuries. Many inventions have been suggested to aid older people and provide convenience to others to avoid the burden of handling the stairs. Most of them offer sitting arrangements that are moved by rather complex motor-driven devices attached to one side of the stairs. The disadvantage of these devices is that the stairs in residential buildings, to save space, are often interrupted by one or more landings that make these so-called chair-lifts even more complicated and expensive. Since moving on the stairs from one story to the next above or down below usually takes no more than one or two minutes, it is an unnecessary luxury to have people seated during this short time. A new device is suggested that consists of a vertical pole fitted out with mail thread that joins a small platform fitted out with female thread. The pole is turned by a reversible motor and thereby moves the platform up or down. The platform carries standing person(s) one by one, or two or three in a group, or one sitting in wheelchair from one floor to the next above or down below. This device is inexpensive, can be used with stairs interrupted by landings or with spiral staircase, and does no require the changing or redistribution of the designed building spaces.
