PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for automatically attaching a side tape to a cell are provided to reduce the number of worker through automation, and to improve productivity by omitting process separating a side tape from release paper, and to reduce production cost. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus(100) for automatically attaching a side tape(ST) to a cell corner comprises: a positioning element (120) capable of provisionally adhering one end of the side tape to the side of a cell(104) by arranging the side tape winded in a winding roll on one side in longitudinal direction of the cell; a cutting element(130) capable of cutting the side tape by predetermined length in state the one end of the side tape is provisionally attached to the cell; and a gluing element(140) capable of attaching the cut side tape to a side corner of the cell.
