Disclosed are a method and device for processing a service data stream. The method includes: a media access control (MAC) layer transmitting data to a physical layer (PHY); and the media access control (MAC) layer advising the physical layer (PHY) to carry out processing on different data sub-streams using different processing modes. The present invention is capable of saving network resources, increasing the number of access users and reducing the interference therebetween.
