<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an engine valve and a piston from interfering with each other when a variable compression ratio mechanism is driven to a high compression side to detect a high compression ratio side reference compression ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The high compression ratio side reference compression ratio is detected by detecting valve timing of an intake valve to calculate a piston top dead center position where the intake valve and the piston interfere with each other and driving the variable compression ratio mechanism at the maximum to the high compression ratio side so that the intake valve and the piston do not interfere with each other. As a result, when the variable compression ratio mechanism is driven to the high compression ratio side to detect the high compression ratio side reference compression ratio, the interference of the engine valve with the piston is avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
