The invention relates to a filling element of a filling machine for filling containers with a liquid filling material, comprising at least one dispensing opening formed at a bottom face of the filling element for dispensing the filling material in a controlled manner, and further comprising a closure system having at least one closure element, which in an activated state of the closure system rests in a sealed position pressed against the filling element and/or an outer functional element of the filling element by the pressure of a pressure medium, specifically to create a rinsing chamber, which is closed toward the outside and encloses at least one dispensing opening and through which a cleaning and/or sterilizing medium can flow.
