The embodiments of the present invention provide a method and device for processing carrier aggregation capability information about user equipment. The method includes: an access network device sending user equipment a message for acquiring the capability of the user equipment including the identification information about at least one frequency band; the access network device receiving the carrier aggregation capability information about the user equipment sent by the user equipment according to the message for acquiring the capability of the user equipment and related to the at least one frequency band; and the access network device providing a multi-carrier service for the user equipment by using the carrier aggregation capability information. The embodiments of the present invention can save air interface signalling overhead and reduce the storage burden of the access network device.
