The machine (1) has a stator carrier (4) inserted into a housing (2) and supported in an axial end area (A1) opposite to the housing. A damping element (12) including a vibration reducing material e.g. knitted wire and/or elastomer, is placed in an intermediate area between the axial end area of the carrier and the housing. A clamping ring (7) is provided opposite to the housing during direct support of another axial end of the carrier for pretensioning the carrier in an axial direction by a spring unit (10). Support areas (S1) are arranged around a periphery of the carrier.
