<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in the resistance of a nickel positive electrode to secure sufficient battery capacity even after repeated pulse charge/discharge cycles with a large current. <P>SOLUTION: In an alkaline storage battery 10 of the present invention, aluminum (Al) is contained in a hydrogen storage alloy negative electrode 12 and Al is also contained in a nickel positive electrode 11.
