<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stirling engine that maintains pressure in a crankcase and lubricates a shaft seal member so as not to lose gas lubrication performance, when carrying out gas lubrication between a piston and a cylinder and applying pressure in the crankcase. <P>SOLUTION: The stirling engine 10A includes, in an output shaft 61: a first shaft seal member 71 disposed on a part extending toward the external of the crankcase 62; a second shaft seal member 72 disposed on the crankcase 62 side, viewed from the first seal member 71; and a third shaft seal member 73 disposed on the opposite side of the crankcase 62 side, viewed from the first seal member 71.
