<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a wavelength plate capable of functioning with respect to light having different peak wavelengths as the wavelength plate by laminating a phase difference correction element with respect to a quartz substrate constituting the wavelength plate and by arbitrarily adjusting a phase difference as a whole of the wavelength plate, and further to provide a polarization conversion element using the wavelength plate with low cost and high performance. <P>SOLUTION: A laminated wavelength plate unit includes two wavelength plate units or more and gives a phase difference δ to light having a wavelength λ. Individual wavelength plate units 20A and 20B include: crystal wavelength plates 30A and 30B for giving phase differences taking phase errors into account with respect to the wave length λ; liquid crystal elements for performing correction so as to cancel the phase errors; and voltage sources for applying voltages thereto so as to generate the phase differences canceling the phase errors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
