Conventional techniques for performing operation and input by means of a touch sensor while referring to a GUI screen have problems in that it is not possible to correctly grasp the correlation between the positions, on the GUI screen, of items to be selected on the GUI screen and the positions thereof on a touch surface, and that costs become relatively high, or power consumption is increased, in cases where touch panels having information display functions are used instead of touch sensors. To solve this problem, the present invention provides a remote control for selecting, by using a touch sensor, icons on a GUI screen to be operated, the remote control being characterized in that touch sensor parts on a touch surface that correspond to the positions of the icons on the GUI screen are, for example, caused to light up so that the correlation therebetween can be recognized easily by a user.
