PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document processing device which achieves facilitation of symbol input operation.

SOLUTION: The document processing device (tape printing device 1) includes: a symbol memory part 34b configured to memorize information on a plurality of symbols; a symbol storage part (symbol storage buffer 32b) configured to store a selected symbol; an operation accepting part (keyboard 11) configured to accept depressing operation of a character key and a control key; a font class setting part (symbol category setting part 32c) configured to set the class of font of the symbol based on the depressing operation of the control key accepted by the operation accepting part; a symbol selection part (controller 30) configured to select a symbol, which has the same meaning as that of a character allotted to the character key accepted by the operation accepting part and has the same class as that of the font set by the font class setting part, from the symbols memorized by the symbol memory part; and a controller 30 configured to store the symbol selected by the symbol selection part in the symbol storage part.
