<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly extract a specific area from an image. <P>SOLUTION: An image analysis device divides an input image into a plurality of blocks and extracts a candidate area in a specific area from the image based on at least any of the hue and brightness of the divided blocks. Then, the image analysis device calculates an evaluation value of the candidate area based on the shape of the extracted candidate area and extracts a specific area from the candidate area based on the calculated evaluation value.
