PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a new lactobacillus strain for preventing, reducing or treating dental caries.

SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for selecting a new lactobacillus strain for preventing, reducing or treating dental caries based on the ability for improving the reduction of the number of streptococcus mutans in the mouth of a mammal by the inhibition activity combined with an excellent binding property to oral mucins and dental plaque.
