A gas generator (1A) is provided with: a housing that includes a lower-side shell (10) and an upper-side shell (20); an igniter (30); a gas-generating agent (41); and filters (50). The housing has: short, roughly cylindrical peripheral wall sections (12, 22) provided with a gas ejection port (24); and a roughly disc-shaped bottom plate section (11) and a top plate section (21) that block the axial ends of the peripheral wall sections. The filters (50) comprise hollow cylindrical members, and are composed of a laminate formed by winding a hook metal. The housing also has curved corner sections (23) in a portion between the peripheral wall sections (22) and the top plate section (21), said curved corner sections (23) being connected to each adjacent peripheral wall section (22) and top plate section (21), and being formed by being in contact with the axial ends of the filters (50) in the circumferential direction.
