<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic photoelectric conversion element having enhanced energy conversion efficiency with high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The tandem organic photoelectric conversion element has two or more photoelectric conversion layers. The organic photoelectric conversion element has at least one recombination layer containing 70 mass% or more of an organic matter, and a charge transport layer which transports electrons or holes selectively between at least one pair of adjoining photoelectric conversion layers out of the two or more photoelectric conversion layers.
