Provided is a device for controlling an internal combustion engine having a throttle valve provided in an intake passage. A fully open intake air volume, which is the intake air volume corresponding to a state in which the throttle valve is fully open, is calculated in accordance with the engine speed, and a theoretical intake air volume, which corresponds to a state in which the engine exhaust is not refluxed in a combustion chamber, is calculated in accordance with the fully open intake air volume and an intake pressure. The intake air volume of the engine is detected or estimated, and a vaporized fuel/air mixture volume to be supplied to the intake passage via a vaporized-fuel passage is calculated. The intake air volume is corrected using the vaporized fuel/air mixture volume, whereby an intake gas volume is calculated, and an exhaust reflux rate is calculated using the theoretical intake air volume and the intake gas volume. The engine is controlled using the calculated exhaust reflux rate. |
