<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component mounting apparatus and a component mounting method that implement precise component mounting through an accurate position correction to a suction nozzle by calculating an accurate suction error of a component relative to the suction nozzle even while a mounting head is excited and vibrated. <P>SOLUTION: A center position P1 of a suction nozzle 15N is calculated on the basis of an image captured by a component camera 17 of a component 4 sucked by a mounting head 15 via the suction head 15N, and a center position P2 of the component 4 is calculated on the basis of the image captured by the component camera 17.
