<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved absorbable surgical fastener. <P>SOLUTION: The absorbable surgical fastener includes a combination of metal materials that can dissolve in a human body without any harmful effects to the wearer. Preferably, the combination of metal materials is a metal alloy which contains a first component capable of forming a protective passivation coating, and a second component capable of securing sufficient corrosion of the alloy.
