The invention relates to a value document system having a plurality of individualized value documents (W1; W2;...; Wn), wherein each individualized value document comprises a composed identity mark, consisting of a first piece of image information (X1; X2;...; Xn) that is variable from value document to value document and at least one second piece of image information (Y1; Y2;...; Yn) that is variable from value document to value document. The first and the second pieces of image information can be obtained by means of exposure to laser radiation or by means of ink jet methods, and the first piece of image information (X1; X2;...; Xn) is logically linked to the second piece of image information(Y1; Y2;...; Yn).
