<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for friction stirring joining which prevents peeling off of a coating layer from a base material and has excellent wear resistance and good joining quality. <P>SOLUTION: The tool for friction stirring joining includes the base material and the coating layer formed on the base material. The base layer includes a first hard phase, a second hard phase and a bonding phase. The first hard phase comprises WC particles. The second hard phase comprises: a compound comprising one or more types of metals selected from a group comprising Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo and W and one or more types of elements selected from a group comprising nitrogen, carbon, boron and oxygen; or a solid solution of the compound (excluding WC), wherein 3 vol.% ore more and 30 vol.% or less of the second hard phase is included in the base material. The bonding phase comprises iron group metal, and 8 vol.% or more and 28 vol.% or less of the bonding phase is included in the base material. In regard to a composition ratio between the first hard phase and the second hard phase, the first hard phase is larger in volume ratio than the second hard phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
