<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas recirculation control system for an internal combustion engine in which an optimum parameter for EGR control can be used for specifying conditions to be a combustion bottom value. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas recirculation control system ECU, an EGR control program is made to perform window setting processing, waveform data storing processing, integral operation processing, ratio specifying processing and valve mechanism control processing. by such a series of the processing, the optimized parameter obtained under the same conditions is used.
