<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery monitoring system for monitoring multiple sets of cells. <P>SOLUTION: The battery monitoring system includes a first module and a second module coupled to the first module. The first module shifts a reference signal to a first shifted signal. The second module shifts the reference signal to a second shifted signal and shifts the first shifted signal to a third shifted signal. The second module also monitors a set of cells through the first module and provides an output signal indicative of a status of the set of cells.
