<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and thin speaker having excellent input tolerance and bass playback capability, without increasing component costs and manufacturing costs. <P>SOLUTION: A speaker 1 includes: a diaphragm 2 of a thin and long formation; a thin, long and annular edge 3 disposed in a manner to surround the periphery of the diaphragm 2; a voice coil bobbin 4 for vibrating the diaphragm 2; a voice coil 5 wound along the outer peripheral surface of the voice coil bobbin 4; a frame 6; a magnetic circuit 7 joined to the frame 6 more backward than the diaphragm 2; and a connection member 8 for joining to the rear face of the diaphragm 2. The connection member 8 is composed of a plurality of members including a diaphragm joint portion 21, a bobbin connection portion 22, a center retention portion 23 and a frame body portion 24.
