<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker capable of constantly keeping time for soaking rice in water appropriate. <P>SOLUTION: Water in a jar 5 is discharged through a slide tube 90, a projection tube 87, a longitudinal hole 57, a latitudinal hole 59, a discharge hole 105, and a discharge hose 109 by siphon action even after a check valve 73 is closed. When the water is discharged, air is flown from an air inflow hole 75 to the jar 5, thus, the discharged water does not remain. When a water surface reaches an air hole 95 of the slide tube 90, the air enters the slide tube 90 from the air hole 95. Thus, discharge of the water by the siphon action is stopped. Since a base end part of the slide tube 90 is adjusted to a scale indicating "3" corresponding to 3 Gou (about 540 cc) of rice, and the water level (volume of water) in the jar 5 corresponds to the 3 Gou of rice.
