PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably conceal and read information by overwriting and to reliably and accurately reproduce the concealed portion on the basis of accumulated image data before overwriting.

SOLUTION: An image input and output system comprises a reading and overwriting unit and an image formation device. The reading and overwriting unit includes: an image reading part which generates pre-overwriting image data that is image data of a read area before overwriting; an image output part which outputs an image for concealment to overwrite the already read area with the image for concealment to make the concealed area; and an interface unit outputting the pre-overwriting image data. The image formation device includes: a communication part which receives the pre-overwriting image data from the reading and overwriting unit; a storage part which stores the pre-overwriting image data received by the communication part; and an image formation part which forms an image on the basis of the pre-overwriting image data.
