<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a columnar structure capable of installing a fairing only in a necessary area; and a method of extending the columnar structure at the sea bottom. <P>SOLUTION: A columnar structure of this invention comprises a riser pipe 13 obtained by extending a plurality of pipes successively in a vertical direction from a work barge 11 on the side of a sea surface 10 to the side of the sea bottom 12, and a fairing 14 surrounding the riser pipe 13 and movable so as to follow a change in the tide and to reduce fluid resistance, and when the fairings 14 are connected and extended, the columnar structure is held by a depth supporting member 15 for keeping the depth from the side of the sea surface 10 to a prescribed depth D. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
