<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bending work device for optical transmission media and a method for bending optical transmission media scarcely damaging an optical transmission medium and reducing a bending loss of the optical transmission medium by improving accuracy for bending the optical transmission medium into a desired shape. <P>SOLUTION: The bending work device includes: an arc discharge electrode 133 which partially sequentially heats, along the vertical direction, an upper part of a bending work region A above a leading end, of an optical fiber ribbon F which extends in the vertical direction with the leading end facing downward; a coated fiber retaining unit 123 which retains the part of the optical fiber ribbon F which is located above the bending work region A; and a bending arm 143 which applies a force to the optical fiber ribbon F with the bending work region A heated, so as to bend the optical fiber ribbon F at the bending work region A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
