<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy in selecting an image to be outputted as a result of similar image retrieval. <P>SOLUTION: An image retrieval apparatus is provided which includes a feature vector generation section 20 and an indexing section 70 in which each of a plurality of partial images extracted from a query image and retrieval target images is classified into any one of a plurality of clusters, thereby generating a feature vector based on the number of classifications of partial images extracted from each of images to the clusters, a ranking section 30 which calculates a similarity degree between the feature vector of the query image and feature vectors of a plurality of retrieval target images, and ranks the retrieval target images on the basis of the similarity degree, a common classification degree calculation section 40 which calculates a ratio of the number of reference clusters to which partial images of retrieval target images are commonly classified, in the number of all the reference clusters while defining a cluster to which partial images of the query image are classified, as a reference cluster, and a retrieval result selection section 50 which selects as an output target a retrieval target image of which the ratio is equal to or more than a predetermined value, from among the high-order ranked retrieval target images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
