<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress overcharging of an electricity accumulating element. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is a controller for a battery B composed of a series combination of battery blocks B0-Bn, each including a plurality of electric cells. The controller includes a controlling section 14 for controlling the charging operation of the battery B so that the value of a current to be used for charging the battery B is limited as the electricity accumulation rate of the battery B increases; a voltage detecting section 11 for detecting the voltage value of each of the battery blocks B0-Bn; and an abnormality detecting section 13 which notifies an abnormality when the voltage value of any one of the multiple electric cells included in the multiple battery blocks B0-Bn exceeds a threshold value (for example, 4.25 V). When any abnormality is detected by the abnormality detecting section 13, the controlling section 14 controls the charging operation of the battery B so that the charging operation may be performed in compliance with a virtual electricity accumulation rate higher than the electricity accumulation rate of the battery block having the highest voltage value and therefore having the maximum electricity accumulation rate out of the multiple battery blocks B0-Bn. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
