<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system and its starting method without fear of wasteful consumption of fuel gas or without promotion of degradation of a resistor. <P>SOLUTION: An auxiliary circuit 30 equipped with a resistor 31 is provided between a fuel cell FC and an external load circuit 50. When an anode electrode 4 is given a scavenging treatment with air at stoppage of power generation of the fuel cell of the previous round, if a given period of time has elapsed after stoppage of generation even if a scavenging treatment is not done, the air is judged to exist in the anode electrode 4, so that, at start of the fuel cell FC, the fuel cell FC is connected with the auxiliary circuit 30 before it is connected with the external load circuit 50 to make discharge and eliminate potential differences among unit cells in the fuel cell FC. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
