PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit for an air conditioner facilitating separation of dust scraped by a brush from the brush, facilitating entrance of the dust into a dust box, not requiring time for disposal and replacement of an object for accumulating the dust, and preventing misplacement of components of a filter cleaning device. SOLUTION: In the indoor unit 100 for an air conditioner, a tabular filter 5 for dust, a heat exchanger, and a blow fan are arranged in an air passage from a suction opening to a blow-out opening. It is provided with a driving part 11 moving the tabular filter 5 in parallel with a plate face, the cleaning brush 19 scraping of dust attached to the tabular filter 5 following movement of the tabular filter 5, a scraping part 12 scraping off dust scraped off from the tabular filter 5 and attached to the cleaning brush 19, the dust box 17 holding the dust scraped off and falling from the cleaning brush 19, and a dust collecting sheet 31 laid in the dust box 17 and capturing the dropped dust.
