A setting unit that can set the start time when a user starts using a apparatus and a control unit that can make the apparatus enter a non-operation state in either first standby mode or second standby mode where the apparatus can be actuated from the non-operation state in a shorter time than in the first standby mode are provided. The control unit performs control to determine to which of the first standby mode and the second standby mode when the apparatus enters the non-operation state, based on the time difference between a time when an instruction to turn off the apparatus is issued and the start time set with the setting unit. |
