A method of generating a focus signal from a plurality of edge widths from an image comprises scanning for edges and comparing a peak gradient of an edge with a screen threshold if a screen flag is on. The edge is excluded or de-emphasised from the focus signal if the peak gradient is less than the screen threshold. The screen flag is turned on upon detection of a wider edge. |
