System and methods for resolving transactions

Apparatus for settling a debt transaction, the apparatus comprising a server comprising: means for contacting a debtor by transmitting a communication to the debtor using one of a number of available communication channels, wherein the communication invites the debtor to contact the server for the purpose of attempting to resolve the debt transaction; means for receiving information, at the server, regarding the transaction; means for seeking available information pertinent to the transaction from at least one source external to the server and the debtor; means for processing data from the available information using a rules based engine including rules established on behalf of a party to the transaction located at the server; and means for presenting a transaction settlement offer set to the debtor based on at least one decision made by the rules based engine.
