The bed has a pivoting mechanism including parallel arms (24) with a joint placed around a chassis (17) and barrier elements of a side barrier. A deployment bar (30) of the mechanism is articulated between the arms. A locking system is arranged between the element and a cam profile (35) attached to the bar. The system has a retainer (40) slidingly mounted in a guide of the element and actuated by an actuating handle (42) permitting to disengage the retainer from the profile. The retainer cooperates with stops of the profile to define a predetermined stable position of the mechanism.
