The present invention relates to sugar-derived tensioactive compounds with antimicrobial activity against Bacillus species, in particular against Bacillus anthracis. The present invention further comprises the process for- the preparation of the sugar-derived tensioactive compounds with antimicrobial activity. The compounds of the present invention can be used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and agrochemical domains, as well as the security domain, to combat bioterrorism.
