PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for generating a voltage are provided to efficiently control a charge pump in consideration of a boost voltage and the size of an input voltage when the input voltage is boosted by using a charge pump. CONSTITUTION: A boost circuit generates a boost voltage by boosting an input voltage with a preset boosting rate. A pump level control unit(314) controls a boost rate according to the size of an input voltage. The boost circuit includes a charge pump(312) including a plurality of pump units. A pump level control unit controls the preset boost rate by controlling one of a plurality of pump units.
