A unit of furniture comprises a combined table top and seat, the table top 1 being mounted on legs 4, 5 by means of screw-threaded bolts 12A so that it may be pivoted between a horizontal position in which the unit forms a table and seat and a substantially vertical one, in which latter case the table top forms a back rest for the seat 2. Means for locking the top in position consist of two arms 13 and 14 hinged respectively to the table top and seat, which are interconnected by a bolt 14A fixed to the arm 14 and passing through a slot 15 in arm 13 so that the arms are relatively slidable and may be secured in position by means of a wing-nut 16 on the bolt 14A. A further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), is described in which the top 1 is mounted upon upward extensions of the rear pair of the legs 3. In this case the locking means consist of two pins each of which passes through a hole in a bracket fixed to the table top into a coincident hole in the table top supports. In either embodiment the table top may be adjusted to and locked in an intermediate position to provide an inclined desk top.
