The apparatus has a releasable clamping device for clamping a perforating or cutting knife (5) in a groove (4) of a cylindrical knife holder (2) i.e. knife cylinder, where an end of the knife is supported on a stop element (8) provided in the groove. The stop element is adjustable in a radial direction of the holder when the clamping device is loosened, and a spring arrangement arranged in the groove acts on the stop element. The spring arrangement presses the stop element outwards in a direction away from a bottom (4a) of the groove when the clamping device is loosened.
