On a ship, chain sprockets 21 for controlling the anchor chains and winch drums 8 for controlling the warping cables are linked by clutches so that steam-engines 3 can selectively drive sprockets or drums. Thus two engines 3 drive each drum 8 via gears 6 and 7, and clutch 9, and drive each sprocket 21 via clutches 12, 15 and 23. Each sprocket or drum is enclosed in casing 1. |
