<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in terms of the number of touches and operability of a Japanese character input keyboard of a current portable IT adapted to input a Japanese character by combining a consonant column and a vowel row in a Romanized Japanese syllabary chart, the problem being more serious in English character input. <P>SOLUTION: In a 3×3 input keyboard, the number of keys is reduced to half in Japanese character input by using a system for performing automatic change between consonant input and vowel input by setting a consonant input key and a vowel input key together to a part of a hardware keyboard, setting two consonants to each of the residual hardware keys, and discriminating inputs thereof by touching once or touching twice. In English character input, an input system by 17 keys using alphabetical complementarity in word spelling is combined with a system in which a keyboard bearing input of alphabetical characters with high appearance rate and a keyboard bearing input of other alphabetical characters are set on the same hardware keyboard, and these keyboards are switched by a single-touch keyboard switching method, whereby input operability close to that of a current personal computer is attained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
