The invention relates to a method for transmitting data from a track-side device (10) to a vehicle (20), which method is versatile and also suitable for safety-critical requirements due to the reliability thereof. To this end, the method according to the invention is such that a light signal in the form of visible light (11) modulated with the data to be transmitted is emitted by the track-side device (10), wherein the data to be transmitted comprises an identifier identifying the track-side device (10), the identifier received by means of the light signal is compared to an expected identifier by the vehicle (20), and the data received with the light signal are discarded by the vehicle (20) if a deviation between the received identifier and the expected identifier is determined during the comparison. The invention further relates to a vehicle-side device and a track-side device.
