<p>A modular data processing system 200 for processing communication session data from a cellular mobile communications system 210 comprises at least two autonomous data processing units, data loaders 230. The autonomous data processing units are arranged in parallel, and are operable simultaneously. Each data processing unit receives and processes raw communication session data from an associated set of controllers of the cellular mobile communications system 210 such as Radio Network Controllers 212, 214, 216. At least one data collection subsystem 215, such as Operational Support Subsystem, supplies the raw communication session data to the at least two autonomous data processing units, for calls made within the coverage area of the set of controllers associated with the data processing unit. The arrangement described provides plural data loaders in parallel, which provides advantages of speed when receiving large volumes of call data from multiple controllers to be able to cope with potential volume of data coming into the data processing system. The arrangement is scalable, i.e. the system may expand in a modular fashion (Figure 5) as a cellular mobile communications system grows. Also disclosed is a process for enabling synchronized download of data from the plural data loaders to a common memory 250 of the processed data records. The processed data may comprise derived geo-location and/or Quality of Service (QoS) information. The processed data may be used to provide a coverage map, raw statistics or network-wide statistics such as for fault diagnosis in the network or network apparatus.</p> |
